The Carnival of Venice tune may be familiar as the song, "My hat it has three
corners". This tune has been used by numerous composers as a theme on which to
base sets of instrumental variations, so we are in good company if we use it as
a way into improvisation in the classroom! These teachers' notes can be used in
conjunction with online playback of individual parts, making the activities easy
for non-specialist teachers to explore in the classroom.
